As far back as I can remember, I have been fascinated by anything that moves on rails.

My lifelong interest in railroads stems from my grandfather, Kevin Piper, whose 35-year career as a locomotive engineer inspired me to become a railroad artist and photographer. This is the story of how it all happened—our story.

Kevin was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis due to environmental and genetic factors in 2011. Retiring early in 2013, he now resides in a nursing home.

Through his collected color slides, stories, and model trains, Kevin remains a constant source of guidance and inspiration in my life.
